Update ChampdAction.LAbO

Situation

As a result of the Corona crisis we have to expect that it is not going to be possible to let this year's ChampdAction.LAbO take place in the same way as usual. So ChampdAction.LAbO 2020 goes 100% online!

Cancelling is NOT an option!

We have decided to change the focus of this year's LAbO to the creation of artistic work in the virtual realm. This is a quite drastic step, but it gives us all flexibility to react to the developments of this pandemic and restrictions it might entail.

This means that the main focus of LAbO will still be collaborating interdisciplinary but with an additional focus of realizing concerts, installations, performances and exhibitions (and any other formats) in virtual space. Accordingly, the final event of the LAbO workshop will likewise have to take place as a public event in the virtual domain.

After looking and researching for a digital environment in the virtual realm that allows social gathering, interdisciplinary collaboration and is easy to access and to learn, we have decided to choose Mozilla.hubs as our main working platform.

Mozilla Hubs & Spoke

Mozilla.hubs (https://hubs.mozilla.com/#/

Hubs is an open source social VR platform that runs right in your browser. With Hubs you can create your own virtual space with a single click and invite others to join using a URL. No installation process or app store required.

Watch videos with friends, give presentations, or meet with colleagues remotely. Hubs makes it easy to connect with others and share images, videos, 3D models, and more.

Mozilla.spoke (https://hubs.mozilla.com/spoke)

Spoke is the built-in scene editor for creating environments that can be used in Hubs rooms. The editor runs entirely in the browser, and allows you to upload your own 3D models, images, and files to use in your projects. Spoke also contains building kits and integrations with various content providers to help you build!
