Jennifer Torrence

percussion, performance, artistic research

Jennifer Torrence is an Oslo-based percussionist, performer, and artistic researcher specializing in contemporary music. Her research and performance work investigates, for example, the performer body, precariousness, queerness, and collective making in contemporary music. Beyond her solo work, she is a member of Pinquins (Norway) and is the former principal percussionist of the Arctic Philharmonic (Norway). Jennifer Torrence holds her PhD in Artistic Research from the Norwegian Academy of Music. She previously studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and University of California San Diego, and was a Fulbright Scholar to the United Kingdom. She is currently an artistic researcher at the Norwegian Academy of Music where she also lectures and teaches privately.
